On March 29, the Aspan Model United Nations (MUN) conference was held at Kunaev University.
During the event, participants took on the roles of delegates from various countries, simulating the work of the United Nations and discussing real diplomatic processes.
As part of the conference, a session of the First Committee of the General Assembly — UN DISEC (Disarmament and International Security Committee) was held. The main agenda topic was “Regulation of autonomous weapons systems and the use of artificial intelligence for military purposes.” Delegates discussed the ethical, legal, and security aspects of AI-controlled weapons and proposed ways to develop international norms and effective regulatory mechanisms.
The event provided students with an opportunity to practically develop skills in negotiation, defending official positions, and making multilateral decisions. The conference was organized within the framework of the Aspan MUN initiative and aimed to raise youth awareness of current issues in international security.
