Ömiräli Shakarapuly, took part in a meeting between the Head of State, Қасым-Жомарт Тоқаев, and the scientific community held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
In his speech, the President noted that there is currently intense competition among countries for technological leadership.
— If we want our country to prosper, we must prioritize the development of digitalization and artificial intelligence. This is one of my most important goals as President.
The Head of State also emphasized that, in accordance with the updated Constitution, the development of science will gain new momentum. According to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, expanding the scope of science is defined as one of the key strategic priorities. This means that developing universities, research infrastructure, and supporting scientists is not only a government task but also a constitutional responsibility of the state.
The significant meeting was also attended by the President of Kunaev University, Doctor of Law, Professor Zhalairi Ömiräli Shakarapuly, and university lecturer, Doctor of Law, Professor Kabdulsamikh Koshekovich Aitkhozhin, who expressed support on behalf of the academic community.
During the meeting, the Head of State highlighted that the development of science and technology is one of the country’s main priorities. He stressed the importance of digitalization and artificial intelligence, noting the increase in science funding as well as the growth in the number of research universities and innovative projects.
In addition, the need to improve efficiency and transparency in the scientific sector was emphasized, and the Government was tasked with addressing shortcomings in the funding system. The President also underscored the importance of training engineering and technical specialists and reminded that 2026 has been declared the Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence.
At the conclusion of the meeting, it was noted that the development of science and education, support for innovation, and the creation of favorable conditions for young scientists are key priorities for the country’s strategic development.
