Kunaev University Hosted a Ceremonial Event Dedicated to the 95th Anniversary of Mukagali Makataev.
Kunaev University held a ceremonial event dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the outstanding Kazakh poet and lyrical writer Mukagali Makataev. The event was organized by the Public Safety Department.
The literary and musical evening was opened by Vice-Rector for Educational Work and Social and Cultural Development, Talgat Turashevich Dyusebayev. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of Makataev’s poetic legacy in the spiritual life of the nation, highlighting the depth and timeless relevance of his works and encouraging young people to study his творчество.
The Rector of the University, Zhazira Omiraliqyzy, also delivered a speech, noting that Makataev’s works represent a golden treasure of Kazakh literature and promote national values and moral principles.
The honored guest of the evening, Aizhan Nurmagambetova, congratulated the audience and performed songs based on Makataev’s poems, receiving warm applause. Another distinguished guest, Galym Kalibekuly — Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Writers’ Union of Kazakhstan, poet, and Honored Worker of Kazakhstan — delivered a congratulatory speech, spoke about the significance of Makataev’s contribution to literature, and paid tribute to the poet’s memory.
During the event, students recited poems, presented theatrical performances, and sang songs. Their performances were highly appreciated by the audience.
At the end of the evening, guests were awarded letters of appreciation on behalf of Konaev University.
Mukagali Makataev (1931–1976) was an outstanding Kazakh poet and one of the most prominent representatives of 20th-century Kazakh lyrical poetry. During his lifetime, he published poetry collections such as “Ilyich,” “Armyssyngdar, dostar,” “Aqqular uyqtaganda,” and “Shuagym mening.” His poetry is filled with deep emotion, love for his homeland, and national spirit. Today, his verses hold a special place in readers’ hearts and have inspired numerous popular songs.
