A leadership lecture by the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held at Kunaev University.
On February 3, 2026, a leadership lecture featuring the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nurlan Mazhitovich Abdirov, took place at Kunaev University in Almaty. The event aimed to foster electoral culture among young people and enhance their civic engagement.
The meeting was opened by the President of Kunaev University, Doctor of Law, Professor Zhalairi Omirali Shakarapuly, who welcomed the distinguished guests, members of the Central Election Commission, and students. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of such meetings in increasing young people’s interest in electoral processes and strengthening a conscious civic position.
The event was also attended by members of the Young Voters Club, established under the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2022. These clubs aim to improve the electoral and legal culture of young people and broaden their awareness of the electoral process. Currently, Young Voters Clubs operate in all regions of the country, including nine dialogue-platform clubs functioning in the city of Almaty.
During the meeting, the moderator introduced Nurlan Mazhitovich Abdirov as a Doctor of Law, professor, and a public servant with extensive experience in government service. Over the years, he has worked as a lecturer at the Karaganda Higher School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, served as Deputy Secretary of the Security Council, was a Deputy of the Mazhilis, and held the position of Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In his lecture, Nurlan Mazhitovich Abdirov elaborated on leadership, responsibility in public service, the development of the electoral system, and the role of youth in the country’s socio-political life. He encouraged young people not to remain indifferent to the future of the country, to enhance their legal literacy, and to develop a strong electoral culture.
In the second part of the meeting, participants asked the speaker questions and shared their views. The open discussion format sparked great interest among students. At the end of the event, a survey was traditionally conducted among the participants.
Summing up the meeting, Zhalairi Omirali Shakarapuly expressed his gratitude to the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the informative and insightful lecture and invited the participants to take a commemorative group photo.
