Kunaev University Introduces AIFC Academy Minor Programs
On January 23, 2026, a ceremonial event was held in Almaty to officially transfer minor programs developed by the AIFC Academy of the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) to Kunaev University. These educational modules cover key areas of modern finance and are aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of Kunaev University students in the labor market by providing them with up-to-date knowledge across various sectors of the financial industry.
The minor programs were developed by the AIFC Academy with the support of Freedom Broker and the Freedom Shapagat Corporate Foundation. The minor programs are short-term certificate courses integrated into higher education curricula. Depending on the course focus and level of complexity, the duration of study ranges from three to four months.
Ruslan Dzhumashev, Managing Director of the Freedom Shapagat Corporate Foundation, noted: «Supporting educational initiatives is one of the key priorities of the Freedom Shapagat Foundation. We believe that investments in human capital development directly contribute to the sustainable growth of the financial sector and the economy as a whole.»
Zhanna Kashenova, Director of the Educational Projects Department at Freedom Broker, emphasized that the list of transferred minor programs includes the following courses: «Derivative Securities: Options», «Asset Management», «Financial Market Regulation» and «Resolution of International Commercial Disputes».
Aigul Kazbekova, Project Manager at the AIFC Academy, noted the importance of introducing such programs to help students adapt to labor market requirements and acquire additional competencies in promising fields.
Ömiräli Zhazira Ömiräliqyzy, Rector of Kunaev University, highlighted the significance of the event: «This day holds special meaning for us — we are opening a new chapter in the development of Kunaev University by officially introducing four minor programs that will expand opportunities for our students and strengthen the practical focus of education».
The implementation of the minor programs into the academic process is expected to begin during the current academic year. Students of Kunaev University will be able to choose these courses to study and deepen their knowledge in key areas of the financial sector.
