Kunaev University Delegation Visits China: Advancing Cooperation in Mediation and Arbitration.
On December 18, 2025, a delegation from Kunaev University, headed by Rector Zhazira Omiralikyzy, paid a working visit to the People’s Republic of China. The visit aimed to expand international cooperation, promote practice-oriented education, and strengthen academic ties within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.
The delegation led by the Rector of Kunaev University included:
Rector, Doctor of Law, Associate Professor Zhazira Omirali;
Vice-Rector for Academic and Methodological Affairs and Academic Mobility, Candidate of Law, Associate Professor Baktygul Kuanyshevna Ilyassova;
Head of the Department of International Relations and Academic Mobility, Sandugash Daukenovna Koshekova;
Vice-Rector for Research, PhD, Gulnapisa Zhandarovna Begazova;
Senior Lecturer Assel Gabdul-Gamidovna Nurkhanova.
The key event of the visit was negotiations with representatives of the International Commercial Dispute Mediation Center of the Xi’an Chamber of Commerce. During the meeting, the parties exchanged experience with practicing mediators and arbitrators, discussed modern approaches to resolving commercial and investment disputes, and explored legal mechanisms for alternative dispute resolution.
The International Commercial Dispute Mediation Center of the Xi’an Chamber of Commerce is a specialized institution engaged in the resolution of commercial, investment, and cross-border disputes. The Center actively cooperates with participants in international trade, contributes to the development of the legal infrastructure of the Belt and Road Initiative, and serves as a platform for interaction among lawyers, mediators, and arbitrators from different countries. Its activities are focused on applying international standards of mediation and arbitration, as well as on training professional specialists in the field of commercial law.
As a result of the negotiations, Kunaev University and the Xi’an Arbitration Committee reached an agreement to sign a cooperation agreement. The document provides for:
- placement of Kunaev University master’s students for professional internships at the International Commercial Dispute Mediation Center;
- implementation of joint scientific and applied research in the field of commercial arbitration and mediation;
- exchange of experts and participation in joint educational and scientific events.
The parties paid special attention to the prospects of long-term partnership within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, emphasizing the importance of training highly qualified specialists capable of working in the context of international legal and economic cooperation.
This visit became an important step in strengthening the international reputation of Kunaev University and expanding its cooperation with leading legal and arbitration institutions of the People’s Republic of China.
