Kunaev University Delegation Visits China and Signs a New Strategic Agreement.
On December 16, 2025, a delegation from Kunaev University paid a working visit to the city of Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, People’s Republic of China. The main purpose of the visit was to sign cooperation agreements with Chinese universities, strengthen educational and scientific ties, exchange experience, and discuss prospects for collaboration in the fields of education and science.
The delegation, led by the Rector of Kunaev University, included:
Rector, Doctor of Law, Associate Professor Zhazira Omirali;
Vice-Rector for Academic and Methodological Affairs and Academic Mobility, Candidate of Law, Associate Professor Baktygul Kuanyshevna Ilyassova;
Head of the Department of International Relations and Academic Mobility, Sandugash Daukenovna Koshekova;
Vice-Rector for Research, PhD, Gulnapisa Zhandarovna Begazova;
Senior Lecturer Assel Gabdul-Gamidovna Nurkhanova.
As part of the visit, an official ceremony was held to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation with Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), one of China’s leading research and educational institutions located in the country’s historic and cultural center.
Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) is a major public university founded in 1896. It operates under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China and is among the country’s key universities under the “Project 211” and “Double First-Class” initiatives. The university is renowned for its high-quality education and strong research capacity in engineering, transportation, natural sciences, management, humanities, and other fields.
The university also serves as the headquarters of the University Alliance of the Silk Road, an international academic platform that promotes educational cooperation among countries and universities participating in the Belt and Road Initiative.
During the negotiations, representatives of Kunaev University received an official invitation from Xi’an Jiaotong University to join the University Alliance of the Silk Road. This opens new opportunities for the Kazakhstani university to participate in international educational and research projects, student and faculty exchanges, and joint research initiatives.
The outcomes of the visit include the establishment of a solid foundation for long-term cooperation between Kunaev University and Xi’an Jiaotong University, as well as the expansion of academic ties within the international higher education space.
