“New Trends in the Global Economy in the Context of Digitalization”
On May 4, 2026, an international scientific and practical conference titled “New Trends in the Global Economy in the Context of Digitalization” was held at Kunaev University in cooperation with the Human Rights Commission under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC, Baku), and Almaty Humanitarian-Economic University.
The aim of the conference was to create an interdisciplinary scientific platform for discussing the impact of digitalization on economic systems, financial markets, public administration, legal regulation, and educational processes. During the event, key areas of the digital transformation of the global economy were examined, including the development of artificial intelligence, digital finance, global markets, as well as issues related to labor market transformation and the legal regulation of the digital environment.
Welcoming remarks were delivered by the President of Kunaev University, Doctor of Law, Professor, Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan Omirali Shakarapuly Zhalairi; the Rector of the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC), Professor Adalat Muradov; the Rector of Almaty Humanitarian-Economic University, Professor Valery Anatolyevich Korvyakov; the Director of the Russian School of Economics at UNEC, Associate Professor Mansur Barkhudarov; the Chairman of the Human Rights Commission under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Law, Professor Igor Ivanovich Rogov; as well as foreign experts and specialists in the fields of digitalization and international relations.
The conference brought together domestic and international scholars, experts, and representatives of the academic community, business sector, and government bodies. Among the international participants were Professor Erman Akilli of Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University (Turkey), Irina Alexandrova, a representative of Springer Nature in Eastern Europe and the CIS countries, and other foreign specialists.
Among the domestic participants were Rafiz Abasov, Vice-Rector for International Relations at the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University, Doctor of Economics, Professor; Gulbakhyt Kaliyeva, Doctor of Economics, Professor at Kunaev University; Elena Shevchenko, Vice-President of the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Economics, Professor; Yelzhan Kabyshev, Head of Personal Data Protection Practice at the law firm “Digital Rights Center Qazaqstan”; as well as representatives of leading universities of Kazakhstan (Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Almaty Humanitarian-Economic University, and others), research organizations, government agencies, business structures, and the media.
