The international conference "Model UN – KazNARU" was held on December 6, 2025.
On December 6, 2025, students of Kunayev University took part in the International Conference "Model UN – KazNARU" on the basis of the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University (KazNAIU). The event is timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the United Nations, the announcement of Almaty as the UN Regional Center for sustainable development, as well as the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality.
The conference brought together students, teachers, representatives of the diplomatic corps, UN agencies, as well as international students from Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Nigeria and Poland. Among the guests of honor are representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Consulate General of Turkmenistan, the UN Volunteer Program, as well as foreign and Kazakh universities.
The main theme of the conference was "The path to peace and cooperation in global issues." The participants discussed the challenges on the international agenda, from the regulation of artificial intelligence and the role of private military companies to the protection of cultural heritage and global mental health issues for young people. The meetings were held in the format of real UN committees: the Security Council, the General Assembly, UNESCO, WHO, the Human Rights Council, etc.
The UN Model at KazNAIU is a new generation educational platform where students try on the role of diplomats, defend the interests of countries, formulate resolutions and find compromises. Kristina Sveridyuk, Secretary General of the conference, noted that participation in such events forms key skills for future careers, from public speaking to strategic thinking and teamwork.
Kunaev University students and faculty actively participated in this Model UN conference, which included not only debates, but also training seminars on negotiations, UN procedures, and writing resolutions. The participants were supported by professors of international law from Kunayev University, as well as invited experts and representatives of the United Nations. In this event, our University student Alina Igilman became the Best speaker, speaking in English.
Kunayev University thanks the organizers of the Model UN Club – KazNARU. It is a space of ideas, diplomacy and leadership, where a new generation of professionals is being formed who are ready for international dialogue and constructive interaction.
