Department of "Constitutional, International Law and Customs Affairs" has a solid scientific potential, allowing to solve urgent scientific and practical problems of state-legal development of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The teaching staff of the department has a rich experience of pedagogical, educational, and scientific activities.

The department is headed by a well-known scientist, Doctor of Law, Professor K.K. Aitkhozhin. The teaching staff includes eight Doctors of Law, eleven candidates of law, nine Masters of Law. Among them there are famous scientists of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Department actively cooperates with the Presidential Administration, the Parliament, the Government, the Constitutional Council, and other state authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as international organizations. Doctors of Law, Professors O.Sh. Jalairi and K.K. Aitkhozhin regularly participate in international scientific-practical conferences, including August readings dedicated to the Constitution Day of the Republic, as well as round tables and other events organized by the Constitutional Council and the Commissioner for Human Rights.

The Department of "Constitutional, International Law and Customs Affairs" is a reliable partner of the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Cooperation with the Constitutional Council includes different directions, mainly the participation of scientists in constitutional production and research work.

Doctors of Law, Professors O.Sh. Jalairi, K.K. Aitkhozhin and G.A. Alibayeva in 2010, 2015 and 2017 participated in the preparation of scientific and practical commentaries on the Constitution, dedicated to the 15th anniversary and 20th anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In 2015, Doctor of Law, Professors Jalairi O.Sh. and Aitkhozhin K.K. also participated in the preparation of a collective monograph "Constitutional control in Kazakhstan: doctrine and practice of constitutionalism approval", dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic and highly appreciated by prominent foreign experts. The opinion of the Eurasian Law Academy named after D.A. Kunayev is also regularly requested on the materials in the proceedings of the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Doctors of Law, Professors O.Sh. Jalairi and K.K. Aitkhozhin constantly participate in the preparation of expert opinions on the materials in the proceedings of the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Doctors of Law, Professors O.Sh. Jalairi, K.K. Aitkhozhin, G.A. Alibayeva took part in the preparation of scientific and practical explanations of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, dedicated to the 15th anniversary and 20th anniversary of the adoption of the Basic Law of the country. Professor K.K. Aitkhozhin is also a Human Rights Advisor to the Office of the UN High Commissioner for the Republic of Kazakhstan. Associate Professor K.S. Birzhanova took part in the republican contest of scientific articles dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic, organized by the Constitutional Council.

The department regularly organizes round tables, meetings with representatives of other universities, as well as other events of the Academy. The department regularly discusses monographs, textbooks, dissertations, and other scientific works.

Currently, Doctors of Laws, Professors O.Sh. Jalairi, G.A. Alibayeva, as prominent scientists-statesmen, are members of the Joint Dissertation Council of the Kyrgyz State Law Academy under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The teaching staff of the Department of "Constitutional, International Law and Customs Affairs" were awarded with state prizes, honorary titles, and letters for their work in the field of education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Including in 2010, 2016 and 2020 academic years, Doctors of Laws, Professors O.Sh. Jalairi, K.K. Aitkhozhin and G.A. Alibayeva were awarded with jubilee state awards dedicated to the anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Professor O.Sh. Jalairi for his services in training qualified specialists was awarded with the badge "Honorary Lawyer of Kazakhstan", established by the Kazakhstan Union of Lawyers and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Teachers of the department also regularly participate in various events organized by the Eurasian Law Academy, the akimat of Almalinsk district and the akimat of Almaty.
