The activity of the department is aimed at implementation of the Academy informatization development strategy, which includes development of the unified network infrastructure, introduction of the latest information technologies in the educational process, automation of financial and economic activities, office work and document flow of the Academy. One of the main activities of the department is the formation of a modern integrated information system of the Academy, in the information space of the Internet, the provision of modern electronic services for teachers and students, the creation of a full-fledged information and educational corporate portal of the university. The department carries out purposeful work on improvement of informatization of the Academy, technical equipment of all structural divisions of the Academy, improvement of quality of service of users and level of provided electronic services, use of new modern information technologies in realization of strategic tasks of the department.

The Academy has access to the Internet through fiber-optic connection with the provider. The connection speed, according to the contract with the provider, is 200 mb/s. In the building of the Academy for the convenience of users the network is provided through the network cable UTP-5E of RJ-45 connector categories for classrooms, departments and administration and Wi-Fi with high-speed connection, allowing to connect to Internet resources quickly. This connection is regulated and shared at the physical level.

All computer classes are united on the local network. The scheme of the local network of the Academy is based on the organization of physical links in the form of a star. This scheme is the fastest local network. Twisted pair UTP5e is used as data transmission medium, transmission speed is 100-1000 Mb/sec.

In 2015 the academy started to switch from analog to digital telephony and already 90% of telephony has switched to IP telephony.

The Academy utilizes 24/7, high-speed 200 Mbps, unlimited traffic (unlimited) Internet access.

The LAN of the university is connected to the Internet. The provider is NLS Kazakhstan and DKP Kazakhtelecom. The Academy uses two channels:

- fiber-optic channel - speed 200 Mb/sec., Unlimited traffic

- fiber optic channel - reserve speed 8Mb/sec., Unlimited traffic

There are "FreeWiFi" areas for students in the Electronic Resources Room and in the lobby.

The Academy has an official web-site www.vuzkunaeva.kz, (advertising site: http://kunaev-edu.kz/) which contains up-to-date information in 3 languages: Kazakh, Russian and English. It contains information about the university, university management, news, events and activities. Up-to-date information about study programs, specialties is provided.

To check the knowledge of students in local area networks and the Internet for all forms of education the educational portal http://univer.vuzkunaeva.kz based on the software "Univer 2.0" is used.

Currently, there are 8 servers and 148 pieces of computer equipment. Of these, 71 computers are installed in 4 computer classrooms. 148 computers have access to the Internet.
